We were asking Microsoft about support for multi-touch even before iPhone arrived to the market (see our report from Microsoft press conference where Microsoft unveiled UMPC for the first time) but the first time th...

| Quote: | | HTC could implement "finger pinching gesture" and "finger spreading gesture" |
Apple was filing for a patent over that gesture.
As written in another article:
| patent lawyer Raj Abhyanker wrote: | | "If Apple's patents are granted, the company could absolutely stop others from using similar technology. They'd also be in an especially good position to stop others from including certain features. Apple could stop [their use] not only on mobile devices but also desktops |
This reminds me of one of items in the Apple vs Microsoft case for Windows 2.0 in which Apple filed claim that Windows violated licensing agreements and copyrights on 189 points (these points included the windows being able to overlap). The case was dismissed, partially because many of the elements had already been licensed in Windows 1.0 from Apple and Xerox and partially because of merger doctrine. Some of the points came up again in the Creative vs Apple fray. _________________ MCAD .Net , MCTS (Web, Windows) |

| Wikipedia wrote: | Unlike similar touchscreen phones, HTC opted for resistive technology for the touchscreen rather than capacitive. The reason cited by Horace Luke was because the resistive touch screen is better for Asian language-recognition.[12] However, the buttons beneath the screen, as well as being pressable buttons, have capacitive touch sensitivity. This feature is used by the camera application to auto-focus the camera as a finger approaches to press the button that will take a picture.[13]

display of Diamond is not capacitive, only the area under the display. And I need to read other reports/sites because I compared it with iPhone 3G that has capacitive display and I know what I am talking about. |

No, the buttons at the front are physical button that you can click and feel. So it is good design after all

Oh ok my friend was wrong then. Btw the Toshiba Porteage doesn't have buttons just hard glass for them. I'm not sure if it is capacitive or multitouch. _________________ WiFiFoFum Pocket PC Wardriving
