6-8 hours of use for heavy users? Utter nonsense.
I've had a HTC Touch Pro for 10 weeks now. I listen to music on it every day. I use the wi-fi every day to surf the net on Opera for an hour or so while I crash in front of the TV after work. I read the news on Opera over 3G+/HSDPA on the train to and from work. I usually make at least two hours of calls a day, and send 20-30 texts a day. I also regularly use the Calculator screen every day (which obviously drains a lot of power with screen-touches and backlighting), and my backlight is set to time out after 5 minutes on battery power.
...so I think I can call myself a fairly heavy user, alongside how many people use their phones.
My HTC Touch Pro rarely gets down to two bars of battery from a full charge. The lowest it's ever got in a day was 40% - that's still got PLENTY of juice left.
Sure, if a power user wanted to use their phone heavily 24 hours a day, then they would clearly need to charge it regularly. But the same could be said of any handset, so I'm not sure what use it is to make hay of the 6-8 hour figure that you quoted. |
