What is wrong with Microsoft? Why it is supporting direct competitors instead of favoring its own product - Windows Mobile?

I don't think this is a big deal.
I think that Microsoft is just targetting web standards with some of these newer web applications. If you have a device that happens to implement that standard then you can take advantage of the application. Windows Mobile phones already have office applications built in anyway. _________________ MCAD .Net , MCTS (Web, Windows) |

"However if Microsoft would make Office Web Applications usable in iPhone but not in Windows Mobile, it would be serious blow to Windows Mobile. " sounds kinda differebt to your attention seeking headline.

Considering Microsoft Office is huge cash cow for MS costing easily double that of Windows, this headline comes as no surprise. Although the latest MSOffice with its ribbon Ui managed to place it in a unique position the product still faces competition against low-cost and open-source alternatives.
Business 101: This is just another step from Microsoft to ensure Office remains relevant in years to come and continues to earn Microsoft money to invest in its future development and in the development of other MS products such as Windows Mobile. |

From the standpoint of editing documents I've seen plenty of alternatives, but I've not seen any that come close to matching Microsoft's collaboration features such as what is available with SharePoint integration, Infopath for workflow design, and Office Groove for syncing other files among team members. _________________ MCAD .Net , MCTS (Web, Windows) |

| Given that Mobile IE 6 has been announced by Microsoft to bring desktop like internet expiriences to Windows Mobile I would assume that MS Office Web Applications will be considered a key test scenario for this claim. Any ideas on this? |
