True Connect from http://www.raspberrysoftware.com/ makes slightly more sense to me. It lets you use your PC's mouse and keyboard when cradled, mirrors the mobile's screen on the PC (even full screen), and may synchronize your SMSes with Outlook.
It even works fine on Smartphones without styles/touch support, like my S710.
However, I'm sure USBInput is useful. |

The purpose of the USB host keyboard / mouse is entirely different: it allows for connecting your keyboard / mouse directly to your (alas, only USB host-capable; that is, very rare) phone / PDA.
There have been some similar solutions already; for example, I've successfully used my USB mice and keyboards with my Pocket Loox 720. |
