I think it's pretty pathetic that a phone as capable as the iphone
cant display flash video. For all the eye candy, underneath the iphone is all hot air. Sure it has some cool apps, but the closed nature of the device is it's Achilles heal.

I have been Winmo user for the past three years. I totaly agree that it is almost an open platform compared to iphone. Winmo has been around for ages but has had very little improvemet. If we were to compare both platforms on time factor, iphone is light years ahead of Winmo. With time they will catch up and believe me, iphone is a joy and fun to use. MS must get thier act right with version 7 because the next generation of iphone would be a killer as they are quick to iron things out...Tytn II video ring a bell?

Yeah, was it 2001 or 2002 when that flash plug-in came out for Pocket IE? Of course Flash apps had to be designed specifically for the mobile version of Flash in order to work back then.

It's been completely useless for many years now. Opera Mobile 8.65 with Flash Mobile installed was only useful for browsing sites with Flash menus and such-- the vast majority of even high-end WM phones could not even play YouTube videos from the full youtube.com site, for example (which, if I recall, didn't even render on Pocket IE).

So yes, Flash for WM has been around for some time, but the performance is so poor that it's been mostly useless until very recently (and even then, it's pretty questionable).

Hi

Tried skyfire - would not run!!! To use the terminology often employed on this site, it only runs on 'outdated' devices i.e those without cutting edge 800x480 resolution screens.

Clearly, SkyFire don't care about customers with modern mobile phones!! Wink

If they ever support the cutting edge, then I'll try it again (and nope, I ain't gonna muck about with VGA compatibility apps! - life is too short!)
