In September 2009 it is expected that first Windows Mobile 6.5 phones will go on sale and each of them will have Marketplace i.e. Windows Mobile app store. While by now Microsoft was claiming that there is over 20,0...

| I'd imagine that some of the existing applications don't conform to the marketplace guidelines (ex: may not support all of the required resolutions or may modify registry keys in areas that are prohibited). It is up to the individual developers to make adjustments to their applications and submit them. |

surely it is so, but you admit that being in the app store will be absolutely crucial to commercial success of any program? It is unimaginable that any program for Windows Mobile will have any chances if it will not be in the app store... |

| I think, that many developers wait for Marketplace launch, to see is it really worth to add apps there. Situation with Marketplace is different than with Apple app store. Today, there are many big online shops with applications for Windows Mobile, and Marketplace have to beat them first. If it will, that I'm sure that will be more than 20,000 apps in it. |

That wouldn't sound like a good strategy. Given the value of speed to market I can only see benefits from getting ones application in the app store early and can only see disadvantages in waiting for the sake of observing. |

| Six hundred is a perfect start IF they are decent apps. Browsing 600 quality apps would be a great experience for new users. Also the developers will make a bit of cash and word will get around that WM development is lucrative. |

Disagreed. Ever used AppStre? it's just incompoprably better what e.g. Handango has - optimization, updates (!!!!), AppSniper etc. Handango and other, existing shops are very easy to beat |

| Why would starting with 20.000 crappy apps be good? |
