It works only for MPx200 purchased at AT&T Wireless (American version). |

when you say "we (msnmobiles) have it" are you saying you have the "news story" indicating it's available OR do you actually have the updated ROM? _________________ cortez

|

Hey all,
Any idea if this update will work on an AT&T MPX200 that has been unlocked. If I do install the upgrade, will it proceed to lock the phone?
Any and all information is appreciated!
Thanks! |

Can you test somehow if the 2003 flashed phone can use the 900mhz band?
U would do me a enormous favor...
Thanx |

| I'd be most interested in finding out how you were able to get this phone that (a) no one else apparently has, and (b) both AT&T Wireless and Motorola strongly deny that it exists (Motorola's reply to my inquiries was that the MPx200 "upgrade" is in the form of the MPx220). |

The 900MHz band is disabled in hardware on the MPx200 phones made for the U.S. market. There is absolutely no way to enable it (it shows up in the software because of the software code, but you cannot enable what does not exist in the hardware). The "generic" ROM apparently decalibrates the phone's radio so it appears to have 900Mhz connectivity when it does not.
Plus, AT&T Wireless recently announced that future development will be on the 850MHz band only (which the MPx200 has never supported to begin with, hardware or software), so what's the point of getting 900? |
