ok - so if having two different versions of software is such a problem for microsoft how come symbian (with 3) is such a success. With each company having only a few phones actually on the market at one time when one company has a new phone out thats popular they immediatly move up - its still way to early to declair a winner. i think in th consumer market in the U.S. smart phones won't be such a big hit unless they are the same price as regular phones - look cool - then people will buy them for those two factors and get the smart phone software more by accident than by seeking it out.
in the business market i think if microsoft ties the phones to echange server more tightly (using their upcomming corporate Instant Messaging) then they will have a product palm cant compete with. you will be able to use your phone to tell your clients and co-workers where you are - receive your email and voip messages on your phone or direct them where they need to be. your phone and desktop computer will be highly integrated.
just my stupid opinion |
