I don't think this phone ever will be released....
Give it WM 5 and it might be something to go after.... |

At CeBIT 2005 emloyee of BenQ told me: "September or October 2005". But you are right: without WM5 - no chances for success. |

what are the big advantages of 5.0? From what i've heard, the biggest things are integrated voice control, persistent storage, and soft buttons. The P50 has integrated voice control and the storage is not a deal breaker for me. I can just store things on an sd card. I really dont care at all about soft buttons. there are pleanty of programs out now that mimic that functionality.
If those are the big differences, i'll keep a 2003 device. When is a device this size going to come out in 5.0 that universal is to clunky for me and I bet the price on that will be over $1000 when it comes out. The Jam 2 wont be till 2006, i think, so thats like a 6 month wait |

Good find you both. I am really pissed that this device has taken so long to get to market, but I am still interested.
EDIT: That review has some _great_ graphics benchmarks for the P50. If this device is released, it would still be the only PPC phone with a 262k color screen. |

Sure, WM2003 is great, but if you are getting a new device and choosing between a phone that hasn't got WM 5 and one that has, what would you choose?
I think it's quite strange how manufacturers releases new phones based on WM 2003 when devices with WM 5 is around the corner. Their products, that they have spent a lot of time developing, will feel really outdated only a couple of months after the release. |

| I have a feeling WM5, although finished, still has some bugs (or is still undergoing the testing phase) so the manufacturers will still use WM2003 for their coming pocket pc's at least for this year. They can't afford not to release a device this year and wait for WM5 to be fully tested. |
