It is refreshing to see major multi-million dollar market research company repeating exactly this what we were preaching all the time: that iPAQ hw6500 Mobile Messenger has too slow processor (312 MHz what is less t...

))))
Who needs Gartner to state that ?
Am really rolling on the floor laughing !
Also the strange display format is something which surprised me a lot when I first saw this device.
I really ask myself (and maybe some of you can help me answering that) why only HTC has no PDA, which can be called "ultra-cool" or more serious "brilliant" ?
The PDA which comes close to that is the hx4700 in my opinion. Disadvantages: comparatively low memory (versus the "old" iPAQ 5550 for instance) and no GPRS.
The only PDA they are offering so far with GPRS/GSM looks nice but also has too little memnory and a very slow processor.
It isn't so hard to fulfill real contemporary requirements, is it ? |

Well, it is not HTC cannot build phone with fast processor. Just look at their "Universal" as an example.
Probably they are trying to cut their cost down to get in the mass market...
Anyone has benchmark results that comapre different devices (including hw6500)? |

i really like the potential of this device. it has it's limitations but i believe because it's the first of it's kind as far as features are concerned.
i really hope people will love it like i love my treo 600. that way, HP can see that people like the ipaq hw65xx concept and can keep improving it. there's always room for improvement in any released device, i hope the hw65xx can continue to evolve. |

The processor may very well be too slow, but that is yet to be seen. I read an interesting review a couple weeks ago (here?) stating that the device only becomes sluggish when attempting to multi-task while using GPS. Who's going to multi-task while using GPS?! Not me...
As for the complaint about WM05, I agree. However, I am fairly confident that an upgrade to the new OS will be made available. Afterall, the hw6700 will supposedly be released in November with nearly identical specs and will ship with WM05. |

| Did the folks @ Gartner actually test the device, use it for a while or did they base the review on mock ups, demos and their imagination. Until the unit hits the US I don't buy into their story and from what I ready elsewhere US based testers are saying a different story. Vist www.davesipaq.com and read some of their reviews, reports and insights. Maybe Gartner isn't right. |
