No small talk. No trying to be nice. Just very harsh, relentless questioning HP about their new iPAQ phone. Not only questioning but also testing and double checking. Almost everything audio recorded and published a...

Thanks again for the great scoop and for not kissing HP's ass in the interview! It's refreshing to read well-balanced, objective reviews...
I appreciate the fact that you got a direct answer from HP as to whether they're going to offer an upgrade to Windows Mobile 5 for this device (they're not). You may have saved me $600 or more...
It's interesting that they have a customized version of TomTom to fit the screen of the hw6515. I wonder who the map provider will be for the U.S... |

| Until the first WMPE05 devices actually ship WMPE2003SE is still the only shipping OS. I find nothing wrong with it and for me it fits the bill. So if not get WM05 is a deal breaker thats ok. Maybe HP wil change their mind, most likely not. Either way it fits my needs. |

| I equate the upgrade from WM03 SE to WM05 to the upgrade from Windows 3.1 to Windows 95. Sure, Windows 3.1 "got the job done", but Windows 95 was a hell of an improvement. I for one am waiting for WM05... |

After this interview + pictures I for one will buy the HW6515.799 Euros a bit steep but worth it.
I have shoehorned Windows 2003 Server onto my Dell 2650 and shoehorning Window MObile 5.0 onto the 6515 should not be too much hassle.
Actually thinking of sending the 6515 to PocketPCTechs for a memory upgrade to 128 or 256.Whenever I lay my hands on it

I'd also like to thank you for your straightforwardness in this interview and coverage of this device. I was considering upgrading to this unit when it was released in the US, but you have revealed many shortcomings that have changed my mind. I guess I'll be waiting for an announced upgrade for the Samsung i730 to WM5, or for the HTC Universal. _________________ My MS Mobile: HTC Wallaby/XDA/MDA/SX56 |

| Since CDMA is faster than EDGE just wondering if the omniscient Mr MsMobiles would know if there was one in the pipeline |

| I've been tracking the HP Mobile Messenger line for several months now and I haven't heard so much as a rumor about CDMA support. I think you're probably out of luck in the near term. |

I checked with PPCtechs about a RAM upgrade and until they actually get one to check out they have not confirmed if an upgrade is possible or will be offered. The 6300 series was not upgradeable, so lets hop the 6500 is.
I also don't see the mid July launch for the US happening unless HP is planning on selling them directly. Cingular is still in testing and by now we would have heard about another carrier. Maybe the HP rep is working with old and outdated info. |

I would have thought they would have given people like PocketPCTech's an evaluation unit to check out.
Well sure hope PocketPCTech's can do the upgrade. Guys over at www.xda-developers.com are doing some wonderful things but their primary focus is on XDA/MDA stuff |

| I thought it voided the warranty by upgrading the memory outside of factory spec which may be why they don't offer them eval units. Hopefully the price won't be $200 like the hx4700 is. |

Aha, so the release date is looking legitimate afterall. I saw your post on "Dave's iPAQ" concerning this link, but I couldn't reply because they disabled my account after posting a link to this article (see posting: http://davesipaq.com/forum/showthread.php?t=7660). I guess they don't like being shown up by other websites.
How childish... |

| I think this device will not be a big hit in the market. But it will sure find it's own niche with regards to businesses who are looking for a communicator with GPS solution. But of cousre some businesses shy away from phones with cameras. |

| Well here we are two weeks plus later and still no HW6515 or any announcement about a US launch. I guess the HP France Rep doesn't know anything about the US launch dates. Now if anyone has an HP USA rep willing to state time lines that would be helpful. So much for trusting HP to sell to their own friggin country in a timely manner. |
