It is not a secret, that Nokia soon will dump Symbian and port their Series 60, Series 80 and Series 90 software to mobile Linux. The same move already is underway at PalmSource - future PalmOS will be (just?) a lay...

Thing with Linux phones is they're using the same kernel code as in a desktop/server machine, albiet with embedded configuration options.

Also, the GUI engines are embedded versions which is almost identical to the desktop versions.

This makes it very simple to get standard Linux software applications running on a Linux smartphone. You can't really claim the same about Windows Mobile since it is largely based upon Windows CE which is quite different from Windows.

Linux is a more powerful platform, choice of numerous file systems, numerous desktop engines, open source so developers can alter things to suit and runs on all kinds of processors.

Look at how many wireless routers run it to see what's good about it. Tomtom Go is a Linux based device. Not many companies find Windows Embedded attractive due to source restrictions and royalty requests from Microsoft.

At least I need to know what processor this phone has. They do not say on AMOI's web site Sad
