If you are located in USA read this story carefully! Apart from fantastic Samsung i730 Pocket PC phone yet another ultra-cool Pocket PC phone for CDMA EVDO networks (i.e. for USA!) is coming...

- and HTC Wizard (which is similar in construction to HTC Apache) has unfortunately very slow processor: only 195 MHz compared to 416 MHz in HTC Apache!

Actually, HTC's OMAP phones (TI processor) in the 200 mHz speed range out perform the the 400+ mHz Intel ARM processors in every category (graphics, memory access, processing, reduced battery consumption). Here's one article describing a comparison between OMAP and XScale ( http://www.brighthand.com/article/Analyst_Day ) in which it states:
Quote:
... ran some fairly intense graphics tests against both TI's processor at 144 MHz and processors from "another big chip maker" running at 206 MHz and 400 MHz. Let me tell you, the OMAP processor cleaned Intel's clock, finishing the test in less than one-third the time. Mr. Delfassy claimed that not does TI's processor operate more efficiently (it uses as little as one-sixth the megahertz to produce the same numbers of MIPS) but it consumes significantly less power -- more than 90% less power than a 400 MHz Xscale processor in standby mode.

As in desktop computers, simply comparing processor duty cycle is not an acceptable method. I wish the new Apache was using OMAP - the power savings alone would be worth it.
