Clearly we were wrong claiming, that O2 Xda Atom is made by Quanta. In fact it is made by HTC and its code name is : HTC Athena !

Here is HTC roadmap for O2 Asia for year 2006:

Everybody hopes it is SD not mini-SD but nobody knows for sure yet. All I can say: the reason why HTC Wizard has mini-SD is the slide out keyboard and since Atom (i.e. HTC Athena) has no such keyboard, it should have SD card slot....

I'm considering the HTC Hermes since I ordered the HTC Wizard, but the idea of videoconferencing is so appealing that I would've picked up the Universal, had it not been for lack of US-UMTS, 850Mz, and EDGE support. I guess I won't feel so bad if the Hermes follows the same features of the Universal, but if it has at least EDGE and 850MHz with those specs, I'll be upgrading once again!

What does the keyboard have anything to do with the use of SD or Mini-SD slots?

it takes a lot of place: keyboard itself + mechanism for sliding out. And less place available means: mini-SD.

The i730 is a similar size with a sliding keyboard mechanism yet somehow manages to have a full SD card slot. There's probably some other reason for the mini-SD decision by HTC, but certainly not an obvious technical one.

That looks like HTC is not on the way of building what I want:
- PocketPC Phone with at least 3.5 inch VGA screen
- no shell model - no keyboard
- no camera
- SD slot
- WiFi and Bluetooth
- GPS
