| Quote: | | Palm's market share in global market of smartphones is tiny after all. |
Palm OS has a 5% share of the world smartphone market. That compares to 3% for Pocket PC and 4% for Smartphone edition. Compared to Pocket PC, it's share of the global market is BIG.
Either way, two years to bring a product to market? In the mobile market, that's a very long time. They'll have to do better with their next product if they wish to seriously compete. |

I was comparing it to Symbian.
Regarding time to market: Nokia has also 2 and more years time to market for some of their products, so it is not that bad and now that this secret cooperation is no longer secret, this time to market for future Windows Mobile Treo smartphones will be much shorter. |

They should drop the association with Windows. There's no actual windows (as in frames) on a phone/mobile device. Plus many average people hate Windows due to all the viruses and problems they encounter these days.
There's more "Windows" code in the XBox than in the PPC and Smartphones yet they didn't call the XBox "Windows Game Console".
Microsoft Mobile 5.0, sounds better to me.
There's also still a lot of work to be done to improve the speed of the OS. |
