The reason why palm can't give up on the palm os, is because palm is so much better in low end applications. People like me willing to spend a thousand dollars on the jasjar or people willing to spend so much on the Treo demand the high end features of Windows mobile, but when you look at the sub $200 range, palm os still wins. You can pick up a palm for under $100, and you still can't do that with Windows Mobile even with Dell's awesome distribution. Under $250, palm has very little competition and if they were to make all their higher end handhelds Windows Mobile they would have a lot of trouble attracting the proper developers to their lower end devices.
For those reasons they can't move over to Windows Mobile completely. |
