USA is a leader in things wireless: many operators offer there mobile Internet for flat fee, Wi-Fi coverage is very good and in several cities Wi-Fi is free or soon to be offered (Google Wi-Fi for example!). The onl...

You said that 3G would kill Wi-Fi over on your blog. So, if you believe that Wi-Fi is doomed to die, then why do you celebrate Wi-Fi so much?
Also, a friend wants to buy a Smartphone before the end of the week and would prefer to buy a Microsoft Smartphone (goodness knows why - probably for enterprise connectivity). But it must have 3G connectivity. Which brand should he choose? If he can't find one, he's going to get a Series60 Smartphone (which he says he prefers, but it's just not the best for enterprise - in his opinion). _________________ ________________________

Without flat rate 3G will not kill Wi-Fi soon, and in UK there is no flat rate for data in cellphones so that's why I celebrate free Wi-Fi for Skype - available only in Windows Mobile phones.
Regarding 3G smartphone - only HTC Universal is on sale now - a Pocket PC and the first smartphones with 3G (UMTS) I expect to see not before middle of next year. Sorry.
PS. Tankerx, please change your avatar image to some nice one. Your current one is disconcerting and scary. |

who needs skype with its expencive minutes if I can use my local SIP operator who provides services cheaper and better. for example... local calls to Moscow are FREE and this operator works with SIP ... not stupid selfish Skype but industrial standard... so I can make a call using my Symbian Nokia E60 to my friend who uses VoIP from sipphone.com and talk whole the day till battery death without need to change anything or software. at the same time I can call local phone numbers and so on... skype closed - this is it's negative side.
p>.s>. WM devices unfortunately do not provide such perfect work with SIP ... I don't see any GOOD software for this. _________________ Qtek RULEZZZ (sometimes) |
