No, it's sometimes free like for Skype:

... or at home of many many people. Besides nowadays for less than 30 quid in UK one can buy monthly subscription for T-Mobile Wi-Fi hotspots... so it is not so expensive after all. |

The Asian A700 has an extremely ugly looking design IMHO. The "iPod" white look is so 2004 and unfashionable this year. In 2005 black is the new white.
The Euro A701 is possibly the best attempt so far at creating a pda/phone that looks more like a phone than a pda. I really think it looks stylish.
wi-fi is now a pre-requisite for a pda so it is a shame the A701 does not have it. However, it does have an SDIO card slot so a wi-fi card can be used in the A701, which then gives you both GPS and wi-fi.
I think MSM is being too hasty in telling people not to get this phone. It has powerful spec and looks attractive. I'm waiting to hear what the price is. I'm betting it is going to be very competitive against HTC products. |

Wi-fi? Er.. realllllly don't care. Built in GPS? Fast device? OH YES PLEASER My Qtesk S100 doesn't have wifi, i got a card for it and tried it, got bored. Built in GPS would be fantastic by comparison as i use the device for navigation all the time anyway. |

Yeah well it's "horses for courses" isn't it. Some people need wi-fi over GPS and visa versa. I need and use both. My o2 XDA has TomTom Nav5 BUT i have to use an external BT satnav receiver which is inconvenient. If GPS was built in that would be perfect solution. An SDIO wi-fi card in this phone then solves the wi-fi situation and makes buying this phone a very attractive proposition - if the price is right. |

The A701 looks to be the best phone/PDA soon to be available.
As others have pointed out, maybe Wi-Fi would be a nice extra but it can be added for those who really want it.
As for the hw6715, this is a nice PDA and I have used the hw6515 on many occasions, but it's too bulky for a phone and hopefully the A701 will rectify this. A candybar form with built in GPS has got to be a winner.
If you aren't botherd about a keyboard or built-in Wi-Fi then the A701 wins hands down. |

Also £30 a month for access to Wi-Fi hotspots sounds expensive to me, that's more than I pay pay a month for my mobile.
Having done a seach for hotspot locations on T-mobile it seems the chances of most people ever being able to be near one of these hotspots without going out of their way is fairly slim. |

Agreed - wifi access is spartan and far too expensive to be practical for me too |

Well obviously - but the point is the article tells people to 'not buy it' because it lacks wifi - which is ridiculous! |
