they had no chance but to bring it back - otherwise Flash as platform for mobile software would be dead...

Hi,

I think they took an anticipated decision doing that, but they were very open dealing with the users. Here are the messages we exchanged:

"Hi Bill,

I really appreciate the time you took to response my message. Now I understand the reasons, but maybe you should had posted this reasonable explanation in FP6 PPC link.

Have you though about two version of FP6, one for us (final user) and other for developers ? I think this will help.

Hi Jason,

Apologies for not replying sooner.

The free download allowed anyone (developers, consumers) to view Flash content in PIE or outside of PIE using a 3rd party solution which required the ActiveX control to be installed on the end-users PPC.

The Flash Player 6 for Pocket PC distribution kit ($500) is meant for developers who want to create Flash content and to sell it with the FP6 packaged with it - as one file.

As some other developers have pointed out if they're not interested in creating Flash content to sell then the distribution kit is of no interest to them. If all you want to do is to view web sites in PIE that have Flash content or to view SWF files on your PPC that use a 3rd party solution then all you want is the free download.

So regardless with what's happened in the past week regarding the removal of the free download, what would you like to see from us?

I'm looking for suggestions/ideas of what would be the best solution for both types of developers - ones that are interested in just viewing Flash content in PIE and others who want to sell their content with the player packaged. By sharing your ideas I can then communicate your requests internally for discussions.

Again, we value your feedback both positive and negative as it's important for us to understand your needs and pain points so we can figure out solutions to keep you and the rest of the PPC developer community happy.

Best,
