Latest Mobile Windows News: Windows Marketplace for Mobile - automatic software updates are working November 21, 2009; [with touch-screen] What a surprise: Microsoft gets something right! Today, when we started Markteplace client in a Windows phone, then we have noticed that an update for one of the apps is available: HTC HD2 will be officially upgradeable to Windows Mobile 7 November 21, 2009; [with touch-screen] Yes, so if you had doubts whether you should buy this phone - the first Windows Mobile phone with multi-touch - then you shouldn't have these doubts anymore. When Windows Mobile 7 will be officially announced? Here is the answer! November 21, 2009; [General] It is a legitimate question to ask, since only 6 weeks are left till the end of the year 2009 and Microsoft still has not announced Windows Mobile 7 (although Windows Mobile 7 was mentioned in passing here and there). So when it will be officially announced? Here is the answer: Second sincere review of HTC HD2 Windows Mobile phone - published November 21, 2009; [with touch-screen] In most reviews of HD2 phone from HTC, reviewers are not sincere, because they are simply sucking up to HTC or respective distributor - so it is refreshing to see objective and sincere reviews from time to time. The first since one was review of HTC HD2 that revealed the truth about the choice of apps and about general software situation and this new, very detailed review of HTC HD2 is exposing another issue in software of this brick sized cellphone: SharePoint Mobile for Windows Mobile - review - part 1 of 3 November 19, 2009; [General] New Office Mobile 2010, beta, has been just released and the main new feature of this new version is support for SharePoint. Many sites were testing new Office Mobile 2010 but nobody (as of now) has tested the most important new feature of this release: SharePoint Mobile. It looks like SharePoint Mobile can be a differentiator that will make purchase of Windows Mobile phones worthwhile! - a reason why to buy Windows Mobile phone rather than Android or iPhone. Therefore we are reviewing here SharePoint Mobile part of Office Mobile 2010 - in details: Microsoft takes Mac and Google Chrome more seriously than Windows Mobile November 18, 2009; [General] What the duck is going on? Despite many many promises, still up to this day there is no Silverlight for Windows Mobile. But latest version has just been released and it supports both Mac and Google Chrome. Not Windows Mobile though! Silverlight is Microsoft's attempt to defeat Adobe Flash technology and version 4 brings new interesting features: Microsoft incompetence continues: Office Mobile 2010 only for Windows Mobile 6.5 November 18, 2009; [General] So people who have phones like HTC Diamond or HTC Touch Pro - phones with exactly the same processor as HTC Diamond2 or HTC Touch Pro2, cannot get Office Mobile 2010: Microsoft leaks Windows Mobile 7 screenshot by accident on microsoft.com website? November 18, 2009; [General] On a page which lists advantages of Office Mobile 2010, on Microsoft's main website (see link below!), Microsoft posted screen shot of something that looks like Windows Mobile 7:
The link where you can find this screen shot (it's still up) is here: Microsoft incompetence continues: Office Mobile 2010 Beta - with SharePoint Mobile - released but not really November 18, 2009; [General] Update: it's possible that this app is for Windows Mobile 6.5 only and that is why we don't see it in Marketplace on device, but still we have purchased it on website where it is noted that we own HTC Diamond so Marketplace should notice it and not offer it to us on website! We can't stand how incompetent Microsoft employees are. If you browse Marketplace through browser you can pick and "buy" (it's free, so "mark as purchased") Office Mobile 2010 (see link below!) but if you open Marktplace on US market, inside of the device, it is not visible - neither in "My Applications" section nor through search or otherwise... We are excited about Office Mobile 2010 because it is the first version that has connection to SharePoint (that server thingy that unlike laughable Windows Mobile division brings many billions of pure profit yearly to Microsoft), but due to incompetent employees of Windows Mobile division we cannot test it: At last, good news for Windows Mobile: Opera Mobile 10 browser is out, we have tested it! November 18, 2009; [with touch-screen] We have already tested it (as under embargo it was available already yesterday; embargo was lifted today 8:00 AM CET):
... and it looks smoother, is more finger-friendly, and feels much faster! The only disadvantage we could spot is lack of Flash support but after all it's Adobe's not Opera's product and Opera Mobile 10 (and earlier versions) support Flash if it is installed on the device. Ray Ozzie, Chief Software Architect at Microsoft, proves his incompetence about smartphone apps November 17, 2009; [General] How deep can Microsoft fall? It looks like there is no bottom. Today, at PDC conference for developers, Ray Ozzie said, that smartphone apps will not be a differentiator among smartphones. Jesus Christ, oh my God, this guy is so incompetent! (in area of smartphones). He also said: Windows Mobile becomes butt of the joke November 17, 2009; [General] Steve Jobs, in a question about Windows Mobile, has given an interesting answer: Windows Marketplace for Mobile - now available OFFICIALLY from Microsoft also for old Window Mobile 6 and 6.1 November 16, 2009; [General] Microsoft said that it will come by the end of November 2009 and here it is! We have tried it on a phone powered by Windows Mobile 6.1 and it works:
To get it, visit: Windows Mobile podcast number 306 published November 15, 2009; [General] In this episode Alli (Alabama, USA), Gareth (Northern Ireland, EU), Edward (Germany, EU) are chatting about Windows Mobile phones: Windows Mobile podcast 306 Please listen to this podcast - it's the only podcast about Windows Mobile that tells how it is!
FREE Home Screen Customizer for Windows Mobile 6.5 released November 14, 2009; [with touch-screen] With this app you can customize homescreen of Windows Mobile 6.5 phones and it "also features plugin capability to allow other panel developers to integrate their panels into the customizer experience": Previous page   |
