Latest Mobile Windows News: Verizon Samsung Omnia 2 - review February 02, 2010; [with touch-screen] I’m going to set aside all the technical specs - they are available all over the place, and hardly worth mentioning. The things that are worth mentioning are things like - this is an incredibly beautiful little device. At first it felt awkward in my hand, but I think that was more a trick of the eye. You see, it looks like it should weigh more than it feels. It doesn’t feel cheap or plastic though. It feels nice and solid.
And the AMOLED screen is gorgeous. It’s so bright and crisp…going from the HTC Diamond 2 or Touch Pro 2 to the Omnia is like going from SD to HD television! HTC Trophy - good photo available - first touchscreen phone with single-handed QWERTY from HTC January 30, 2010; [with touch-screen] Update: it is just a computer generated rendering made by one of Windows Mobile fans - see comments to this news item for more. Previously HTC was not doing this form factor at all, because it was getting OEM-manufacturing orders from big brands like Palm and HP, but since these orders dried out, HTC is releasing this year the HTC Trophy:

Interesting... Windows Mobile podcast number 317 published January 24, 2010; [with touch-screen] In this episode Ching (Washington DC, USA), Surur (England, EU), Gareth (Northern Ireland, EU), Edward (Germany, EU) are chatting about Windows Mobile phones: Windows Mobile podcast 317 Please listen to this podcast - it's the only podcast about Windows Mobile that tells how it is.
Photos of new Sony Ericsson Windows phone with QWERTY keyboard - leaked January 12, 2010; [with touch-screen] This phone doesn't look terribly impressive - only QVGA display (come on, we have 21st century, Sony Ericsson!) but it has touchscreen and QWERTY keyboard for single-handed usage, so it might be of interest to many people. It is official, info directly from HTC: HTC HD2 will be available at T-Mobile USA January 07, 2010; [with touch-screen] HTC HD - the predecessor of HTC HD2 - never arrived to USA and never was released with U.S. American 3G bands. Not so HTC HD2 that is coming to USA with 3G bands of T-Mobile USA. Since T-Mobile USA has recently upgraded their network to support faster 3G (7.2 MB/s HSDPA), users of HTC HD2 will be able to experience the full speed as HTC HD2 actually supports HSDPA 7.2 MB/s. At last: U.S. Americans are getting the latest Windows Mobile phone too! Microsoft employee explains why Windows Mobile 7 is delayed 4 years: the need to go back to drawing board December 30, 2009; [with touch-screen] ... or in other words: Microsoft had to start from scratch because if they would release what they had, the world would laugh them out: My Phone service of Microsoft fails real-life test and fails to locate a lost Windows phone December 29, 2009; [with touch-screen] CNET was acquired by CBS and merged into Internet unit of CBS, called "CBS Interactive". Natali Del Conte was working at first at Mevio and pretending to be main-stream media adversary but now she is working in the mainstream media - in CBS to be precesise, after it acquired CNET - and she has tested HTC Diamond2 from AT&T with respect to: losing it in a taxi...
... but as you can see on the picture above the test has failed! Microsoft is advertising at myphone.microsoft.com that "Locate your lost phone" is one of the main features of their "My Phone" service for Windows Mobile, yet in a real-life test this main feature has failed! Why? The Top 10 Biggest Achievements in Microsoft Mobility of the Year 2009 December 27, 2009; [with touch-screen] In one week there will be already new year 2010 so it's time to look back at the year 2009! Similarly like last year, when were presenting The Top 10 Biggest Achievements in Microsoft Mobility of the Year 2008, this time we are presenting the top 10 biggest achievements of Microsoft mobile divisions in the year 2009: Windows Mobile 7 is designed for consumers, not enterprise - says a manager from Microsoft December 27, 2009; [with touch-screen]
In a conference organized this month by Barclays in San Francisco there was a chat about Windows Mobile where Robert Youngjohns from Microsoft (President, North American Sales and Marketing, and Corporate Vice President) was talking about current situation. Opera Mobile 10 beta 2 for Windows Mobile released December 23, 2009; [with touch-screen] We like Opera Mobile 10 a lot, because it looks better and runs faster than version 9. HTC must love Opera too, as they bundle it in each Windows Mobile phone made by HTC - they have no choice anyway as Microsoft's Internet Explorer from Windows Mobile 6.5 is incredibly bad (baboons from Windows Mobile division failed here miserably - despite big promises last year that this IE will be fully desktop-compatible) and unfortunately there is no webkit-based browser for Windows Mobile available... Windows Mobile was the pioneer of Augmented Reality, what happened?? December 22, 2009; [with touch-screen] What happened? Employees of Microsoft mobile, that are less competent than any random baboon - that's what happened! Sad times, sad times: Google Android and Apple iPhone now how have many augmented reality apps - both games and utilities - in their respective app stores but Windows Mobile is lagging behind also in this area ...
(on photo above: mobile augmented reality app with pattern recognition running on a Windows Mobile phone) So... Microsoft approves 500 dollar app to Marketplace store for Windows Mobile December 22, 2009; [with touch-screen] Apple is rejecting such apps because they are designed to fool people into paying big money without providing big functionality, but Microsoft allows this nonsense! In past we have heard, on various podcasts, Microsoft employees talking about Windows Mobile Marketplace being much unlike iPhone app store because there will be no frivolous apps allowed by Microsoft but now we have several fart apps in Windows Mobile app store of Microsoft and even this vanity app: Previous page Next page  |
