Latest Mobile Windows News: Samsung BlackJack II on sale in Canada as Samsung Jack January 22, 2008; [without touch-screen] Not available yet in Europe, this smartphone that was initially launched at AT&T Wireless in USA - as successor to Samsung BlacJack (1) - now comes to Canada! Interestingly it features built-in GPS. It looks like built-in GPS is becoming a standard not only in Windows Mobile phones with touch-screen (as it was by now) but also in those without touch-screen. Furthermore Qualcomm makes also ARM-compatible processors, that power several Windows Mobile phones, including HTC TyTN II. Here we present interview with Qualcomm employee where, among others, a Windows Mobile phone manufactured by Inventec (or rather an reference design for ODM) and powered by super-fast (1 GHz!!!) Qualcomm processor, is demonstrated: HTC S730 goes on sale in Asia January 11, 2008; [without touch-screen] Available previously in Europe, now it comes to Asia. With HSDPA (3.6 MB/s) and very fast (400 MHz) processor, it looks like a pinnacle of HTC's developments in area of smartphones without touch-screen. Interestingly this phone features also Live HTC Home - HTC's own home screen now available not just for their phones with touch-screen... Google Android running on Windows Mobile phones ! January 02, 2008; [without touch-screen] In second half of 2008 the first mobile phones powered by Google Android will go on sale. In this way Microsoft's Windows Mobile will get new, extremely strong, competitor. Not only HTC corporation is using vast amounts of money earned on sales of Windows Mobile phones to invest in their phones powered by Google Android, but also fans of Google Android mobile operating system are using Windows Mobile to test applications with use of Windows Mobile phones: Asus M930W leaked - new Windows Mobile smartphone with flip form factor December 25, 2007; [without touch-screen] The source of this information (GPSandCo) claims that this phone is powered by Windows Mobile 6 Professional what of course is total nonsense because all screenshots show Windows Mobile 6 Standard (the one for phones without touch-screen)... therefore it is not clear to what extend we can trust the other specifications of this phone: Review of T-Mobile Shadow published December 06, 2007; [without touch-screen] T-Mobile Shadow is an absolutely mediocre smartphone without touch-screen and lack of 3G and slow processor (merely 200 MHz) prove it clearly. So why it is so much touted by T-Mobile USA and Microsoft? The answer is: because of Neo! What is Neo? No, it is not just a main character in Matrix movies, but it is Microsoft-made custom home screen technology used in this smartphone. Furthermore this smartphone has another disadvantage - a strange keyboard: Windows Mobile 6.1 screenshots leaked December 04, 2007; [without touch-screen] It is not a secret - it was revealed by Microsoft itself on many occasions - that minor upgrade to Windows Mobile will be released in first quarter of 2008 - because then new ROM upgrades will have to be released to ensure compatibility with System Center Mobile Device Manager 2008 (server product). Interestingly Microsoft by the way of this upgrade will be also improving looks and features of Windows Mobile... Screenshots of Windows Mobile 6.1 Standard (i.e. the one for smartphones without touch-screen) has leaked and now are available for viewing for everybody, not just for participants of Mobius 2007.
