Review: mini-SD Wi-Fi 802.11b card from Spectec - SDW-822
April 08, 2006; [Wireless (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, ...)]
Since manufacturers of several smartphones (like Motorola Q or Samsung i320) and Pocket PC phones (like E-TEN G500 or HP iPAQ hw6515) nowadays prefer to place in them some other features (like QWERTY keyboard or built-in GPS) instead of built-in Wi-Fi, and since many of these devices nowadays have only mini-SD card slot (that is too small to fit regular full size Wi-Fi SD cards), it may be of interest to many people to learn more about mini-SD card Wi-Fi card like the one from Spectec, that seems to be the only (!) Review: Bluetooth mini keyboard + considerations about QWERTY keyboards in mobile phones
March 05, 2006; [Wireless (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, ...)]
Many people don't care whether mobile phone has QWERTY keyboard or not, but for many other people this is a deciding factor in buying decisions. Examples of Palm Treo phones (that are the best selling smartphones in USA) and BlackBerry phones (that are extremely popular all over the world) show that having good QWERTY keyboard is of utmost importance. Soon new Pocket PC phones with built-in QWERTY keyboards will be coming to market: HP hw6900 series, Fujitsu-Siemens Loox T800 series and new Treos from Palm (this time also for GSM/UMTS), so it may be worth to think about these topics already now - so that you could take the most informed decision!

At this moment there is only one small Bluetooth keyboard on the market. By 'small' we mean simply a thumb keyboard... and here we are reviewing it:

802.11g Wi-Fi card for Windows Mobile unveiled
January 08, 2006; [Wireless (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, ...)]
802.11g Wi-Fi known also "the G" not only brings faster transfer speeds (54 megabit/second compared to 11 megabit/second in "b" version) but also higher transfer quality and usability. Usually most public Wi-Fi hot spots are still "b" but at home everybody already has "g" (it's almost impossible to buy a Wi-Fi access point without support for "g")... so this card is a worthwhile addition for many Windows Mobile users...

Symbian phones cannot do it : using Skype for free at ReadytoSurf Wi-Fi hotspots
October 03, 2005; [Wireless (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, ...)]
USA is a leader in things wireless: many operators offer there mobile Internet for flat fee, Wi-Fi coverage is very good and in several cities Wi-Fi is free or soon to be offered (Google Wi-Fi for example!). The only problem with USA is a weak coverage with UMTS (3G with video telephony, CDMA EVDO doesn't support video telephony). Germany has very good coverage with UMTS and already first operator in Germany is offering mobile Internet for flat fee. While 3G coverage in UK is still weak and there is no flat rate mobile Internet in sight, there is one interesting thing available only in UK: completely free access to Skype through Wi-Fi hotspots of ReadytoSurf - operation owned by Broadreach Networks Ltd.

You can't deny that Symbian phones can't do it: use Skype in mobile devices. Moreover only few models of Symbian support Wi-Fi while all Pocket PC devices support it (either through built-in Wi-Fi or through SDIO slot).

Here we present practical review of using Skype for free at ReadytoSurf Wi-Fi hotspots... read on!

Wi-Fi meets GPS, and Navizon for Pocket PC appears!
September 15, 2005; [Wireless (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, ...)]
What will you get when you combine Wi-Fi with GPS in a program for Pocket PC and related service? You will get several things, among others: possibility to find your location on the basis of Wi-Fi hot-spots, also if you don't have GPS! All Pocket PC devices are Wi-Fi capable and in 2-3 months first MS Smartphone devices with built-in Wi-Fi are coming... so we hope that this application will be ported also to MS Smartphone!

Symbian phones can't do it!
