Latest Mobile Windows News: HTC Touch HD video review published: unboxing and overview November 07, 2008; [with touch-screen] HTC Touch HD is already shipping to end customers both in Europe and Asia so the first reviews are coming... In meantime several people in Europe, including Netherlands and UK, received their Touch HD phones and it is already sold out at some online stores (next delivery: near end of November)... Spb Traveler 2.0 for Windows Mobile released November 06, 2008; [with touch-screen] We like their slogan: "travel with confidence"! New version brings some new fantastic features like flight search engine, apart from improvements in usability. Samsung i907 aka Epix is just like Samsung Blackjack November 06, 2008; [with touch-screen] ... admits A&T Wireless carrier in their message to developers: Palm bets future on new their new OS, shares sink in meantime November 06, 2008; [with touch-screen] Long time ago Palm has divided itself into hardware and software divisions. Later software division making Palm OS was sold to Japanese company Access, but all in all Access failed to produce appealing OS, so Palm (hardware division) decided to make it themselves. Due to these complications there is big delay and now many people claim that Palm should just use Google Android (also based on Linux) instead of cobbling together new OS. Palm may collapse if their new Palm OS, based on Linux, to be released in the middle of next year, will fail... In meantime they are having capital problems, and the only hope are the new phones powered by the new OS: HTC Touch HD superstar gets another exclusivity deal November 05, 2008; [with touch-screen] It is not common case that mobile operators are trying to get exclusivity for a Windows Mobile phone... but HTC Touch HD - the best Windows Mobile phone of all times - is such a phone.
While it is available online without SIM lock, some operators scored a deal with HTC to offer it exclusively for a few weeks. After Orange UK (owned by France Telecome), now it is O2 Germany (owned by Spanish Telefonica) that is be offering this fascinating on exclusivity basis: Obscure plugin for Windows Mobile - Pointui - becomes official UI for Bell Canada November 05, 2008; [with touch-screen] There are plenty of 3rd party plugins that place more user-friendly user interface on top of Windows Mobile and we would never suspect that a small company can score such a big deal! Yet another review of Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 published November 04, 2008; [with touch-screen] Since this phone lacks tilt sensor, the only interesting feature is 'touch-to-focus'-equipped camera: Korean Samsung Omnia released, offers 800x480 resolution ! November 04, 2008; [with touch-screen] Unlike Japanese version of Samsung Omnia (that also offers 800x480 display) the Korean one runs Windows Mobile! We have seen several reviews (also in video) of the Japanese Samsung Omnia and none of them showed any sign of Windows Mobile, but Korean one is 100% Windows Mobile powered as Windows Mobile screenshots prove it, including big Windows Mobile logo and sheer presence of CEO of Microsoft, Steve Ballmer, at the launch event:
Samsung Omnia, on sale now in Europe, is a fantastic phone with 5 megapixel camera, tilt sensor, fluid screen transitions and stylish design, but 400x240 display resolution was off-putting for many people.... Weekly audio: Windows Mobile podcasts from last week (October 27 - November 3, 2008) November 03, 2008; [with touch-screen] In podcasts (MP3 files accessible also through RSS feeds for automatic download) one can find information not available elsewhere, so if you are a user or fan of Windows Mobile, they are absolutely worth listening - so that you can take more informative decisions about purchases or you can make the most out of your Windows Mobile phone. Unfortunately not all podcasters can keep up with weekly release schedule so they are not worth mentioning here, as we mention only episodes released just last week and only such episodes that discuss Windows Mobile phones: HTC Touch Pro now on sale in USA at Sprint / Nextel November 03, 2008; [with touch-screen] HTC Touch Pro (on the left in the photo below) is slightly thicker than HTC Touch Diamond (on the right in the photo below) but it has QWERTY keyboard and bigger battery!
Samsung i770 sighted at FCC November 02, 2008; [with touch-screen] A CDMA version of Samsung Epix aka American version of Samsung i780 that is available in Europe for a longer time already. Amazingly it features not only WiFi but offfers CDMA EvDO and GSM in one - for national roaming (only American GSM bands included) ability..
