Microsoft terminates Deepfish browser next week but Opera Mini still doing well
September 26, 2008; [General]
Deepfish was (a closed-beta) experiment of Microsoft, which, exactly like it is in Opera Mini, used a proxy servers to fetch content and thin client (kind-of-browser) was rendering this content in Windows Mobile phones. Unlike Opera Mini that is doing very well, and is available for all Java-powered phones (also those powered by Windows Mobile that have Java on board), Microsoft's Deepfish will be operational only by the end of this month, i.e. next month proxies will be closed and existing users will be disconnected:

Windows Mobile is retarded! ... so only lipstick can help
September 23, 2008; [General]
In French language "retarded" means "delayed", and today it is official: Windows Mobile 7 is delayed so only lipstick, i.e. fast release of desktop-class browser with Flash for Windows 6.x - promised already by Microsoft - can save the situation!

Bad news today are that Windows Mobile 7 is delayed and the first Google Android phone has been just unveiled:

T-Mobile Europe cooperates with Opera to bring widgets to mobiles
September 23, 2008; [General]
Oh no, not yet another widget platform! Widgets are now very popular both in Web 2.0 (social networking, blogging, microblogging) but also in mobile industry (widgets for various mobile phones). NetFront browser for Windows has widget engine and now also Opera is getting it. Interestingly icons of widgets of Opera have small numbers on them - looking exactly the same as icons in iPhone!

When we interviewed CEO of Opera we mentioned, that the most important thing (for Windows Mobile users) is that Opera will provide Opera Mobile 9.5 with bundled Flash but he said that their browser supports Flash if it is already installed, but Flash will no be bundled.

Since Microsoft is soon releasing desktop-class browser for Windows Mobile, Opera has found new venue for their innovation - widgets:

XNA Game Studio 3.0 Beta released with support for Zune but still no Windows Mobile
September 17, 2008; [General]
So here we go again: Microsoft releases new technology without support for Windows Mobile - even though Microsoft originally claimed, that it will support Windows Mobile too.

How can anybody believe claims of Microsoft emploeyees that Windows Mobile is meant also for consumers, not just professional users, if Microsoft releases game development kit even for Zune portable media player, but not for Windows Mobile?

Tim McDonough from Microsoft claims that new IE for Windows Mobile will come in 2008
September 12, 2008; [General]
It is hard to believe for us and we think that it is absolutely not true, because the reality is that new Internet Explorer (the one with full-PC-class rendering engine and Flash) is coming next year when it will be bundled with Windows Mobile 7. To release this new browser this year would mean that Microsoft should offer it what separate download what is unrealistic knowing how difficult it is to push updates from Microsoft, through manufacturers, through mobile operators, to end users. In other words: Tim McDonough lies, when he says:

Microsoft releases press release about how well Windows Mobile is doing
September 12, 2008; [General]
Users are leaving Windows Mobile in droves and selecting iPhone 3G instead, the promised Internet Explorer with desktop-class rendering engine and Flash still is not released, first Windows Mobile 7 phones are coming summer next year, still no music service or app store for Windows Mobile, developers earn with iPhone apps 100-500 times more money than with Windows Mobile software, but Microsoft is releasing a press release that everything is going well.

Earth to Microsoft: Windows Mobile ship is sinking like Titanic and releasing press releases that everything is well will not change the situation. Users need new features, including multi-touch and innovation!!!
