Commercial launch of HTC HD2 - the first Windows Mobile phone with multitouch - is imminent

We are merely 1-2 weeks away before HTC HD2 will go on sale. Let's take a look at the situation before the launch:

• in 2 days, on Wednesday, November 4, 2009, HTC is holding launch event especially for HD2, but it is located not in London as previous events but in Taipei, Taiwan! In other words: HTC HD2 is probably the most important phone in HTC's history, so important that they use their headquarters to launch it. Jason Gordon from HTC USA is on location in Taipei to attend this event.
  
  
• online retailers all over Europe are getting ready for sales of SIM unlocked version of HTC HD2 and it seems that the biggest competition and demand for this phone is in UK where price of this phone is dropping as a result of battle of retailers - in other words: the price of HTC HD 2 has fallen from 550 pounds to 490 pounds (lowest price now). In continental Europe one can get this phone even so cheap as 560 Euro in Netherlands but in Germany retailers demand 650 Euro. In other words: if you intend to buy unlocked version, then you should look around and buy the cheapest one! Situation is different than before, where all retailers had more or less the same price.
  
  
• mobile operators are getting ready for sales of HTC HD2 and among them are T-Mobile UK (November 9) and O2 UK (that has just lost exclusivity for iPhone, so it needs badly some other handset but Palm Pre has too small display and looks like a cheap soap box). In Germany where T-Mobile still has exclusivity for iPhone for years to come, we can expect that O2 Germany will be crazy about HD2.

Conclusion: Windows Mobile 7 still is 6-10 months away, but thanks to HTC, big revolution is coming to Windows Mobile world: the first phone with multitouch, that happens to be also a cellphone with the biggest display in the world (4.3 inch).

HTC has become arrogant (now they deliver demo units to main stream media and don't bother about independent publications like ours) and they support corrupted practice of Microsoft (by providing free handsets to members of Mobius - this month Mobius members have 2009 event and will get HTC HD2 for free from HTC) so we don't particularly like HTC. However the brutal truth about current situation of Windows Mobile is: HTC HD2 is the best Windows Mobile phone in the world and HTC is sucking all air out of the room.

Finally we must admit that HTC has hacked (because Windows Mobile 6.5 is not supporting it at all) multitouch very cleverly into HD2, so it will be available in many apps, not just in few ones as we thought previously. In other words: don't even bother buying other Windows Mobile phone: HTC HD2 is the best and leaves the competition in the dust.
