Sprint employee spills the beans about Windows Mobile 6.5 for old Diamond, Windows Mobile 7 and slowness of Microsoft
November 03, 2009 [General]
Not only HTC (a manufacturer) is unhappy about slow progress of Microsoft in the area of Windows Mobile but also Sprint (an American carrier) is: Sprint employees were recently chatting about their plans and Windows Mobile was mentioned many times. In this chat it also transpired that Sprint has doubts whether Windows Mobile 7 will be ready in the year 2010 at all: To learn more, visit original source of this story - a transcript from Sprint with comments about Windows Mobile plans.

Commentary: Windows Mobile division of Microsoft is failing big time: Windows Mobile app store is total failure and has only 281 apps (compared to 100,000 apps in iPhone app store) and the first Windows Mobile with multitouch support is 3-4 years behind Apple and 1-2 years behind Google. It's true that Windows Mobile 6.5.1 and other 6.x versions will bring some improvements for finger-based navigation, but without multitouch and total reconstruction of the whole operating system, these improvements are a worthless waste of time. If Windows Mobile 7 will not be ready by the end of 2010, then Microsoft might as well close down all their departments related to cellphones.
