Windows Mobile 2003 for Pocket PC comes without battery monitor, but... July 17, 2003 [Pocket PC phone] | By anonymous 1. Successor to Pocket PC 2002 - Windows Mobile 2003 for Pocket PC - repeats the same error as predecessor - it has no battery monitor icon in title bar. You may ask yourself how this story relates to cell phones - the main topic of msmobiles.com? Well, in Pocket PC phones knowing the state of the battery is much more important, than in say, regular non-wireless PDAs, because if we forget to charge the battery, for example during reading some longer eBook, it may end with "no more phone calls"... Thatīs why this problem is so vital to cell phones running Pocket PC software. There is however a solution to this problem, that evaded our attention.
The sollution is: SmallMenu - a freeware program from Tillanosoft company. You do not have to switch the screen to Today to check the status of main battery. And if you want to know exact state of the battery, then one tap on the icon in title bar shows it! This program contains battery monitor and solves the problem - at least for users of Pocket PC 2002 phones - we donīt know of a version for Windows Mobile 2003 for Pocket PC. To download the freeware battery monitor (or rather a software that contains it) click here. Donīt use "Plus" features of this program and it will stay freeware then.
