Mobipocket Reader coming VERY SOON to the Microsoft Smartphone
July 29, 2003 [MS Smartphone] | By anonymous 1.

As Oz-girl (Oz = Australia) writes here the Mobipocket Reader is coming to the Microsoft Smartphone platform! Mobipocket (www.mobipocket.com) wants to deliver a multi-platform reader of choice for many users. Lately Mobipocket released a version of their reader for Sony Ericsson P800 smartphone and it already available for all other smartphone and PDA platform, except for one: Microsoft smartphone. Microsoft Smartphone is now the next platform in the line!

So what is so special in this Mobipocket Reader? Oz-girl likes particularly these features:
Why is it my favourite? Good selection of commercial books available, books compatible with both of my PDAs (so I can have books loaded on both devices and read from either one), ClearType support, full screen support, ability to change font and background, ability to add hyperlinks, bookmarks, highlighting, annotations and even edit text ..

Again it shows how big mistake Microsoft did by NOT INCLUDING Microsoft Reader:

... for the Microsoft Smartphone. Microsoft Reader is a nice piece of software and there are already many free tools and dictionaries that facilitate ussage of this reader. Things like look up dictionaries, that you have to buy for Mobipocket Reader are free Microsoft Reader. Also there are thousands of free eBooks in Microsoft Reader format (lit), eBooks not available for Mobipocket! Unfortunately Microsoft being big corporation is not agile enough to understand such details... as a need of people to read eBooks also with small cell phones.

We know from good sources that there will be no Microsoft Reader also for Windows Mobile 2003 for Smartphone therefore Mobipocket Reader for Microsoft Smartphone has yet a long and bright future, while Microsoft will continue losing business in this area.
