Orange France expresses itself publicly about enthusiasts July 30, 2003 [MS Smartphone] | By anonymous 1. Romain Batlle - boss of Smartphone division at Orange France - expresses his regrets and encourages enthusiasts: I am back from my holidays, and I have just learned with sadness about closing of the web sites spvnews and smartgoodies. [...] I am, each day, impressed by work and the remarkable efforts, often voluntary, carried out by the organizers of Web sites about the SPV. If diversity is indeed an undeniable asset, I believe perhaps, that certain sites would gain to specialize (in the development or the skins, or ringings for example), which would undoubtedly make it possible to attract more public. I believe that we can only encourage the webmasters to work on the subject of the smartphone. Just for the sake of anecdote, HTC told us, that they like the skins created by French artists... It is nice that Orange France, at least spiritually, supports SPV fans from France, but there are no big actions behind these words... and the closure of the two French web sites about Microsoft smartphone is just a proof of this. Orange still is a cellular network operator number one in France, and is also owned by France Telecom, so actually particularly French market should be exceptionally well served. But apart from dry words, Orange France has little to offer...
