MiTAC does not run all code-signed applications August 13, 2003 [MS Smartphone] | By anonymous 1.
(on photo above old daddy lies on fat boy slim - on the top Orange SPV phone lies on the new MiTAC smartphone) This is scandal: not only Microsoft conceived stupid "software locking" mechanism where applications need to be code signed to run inside of the smartphone (Symbian phones are free from this stupidity) but also now some properly code signed applications cannot execute at all inside of the new MiTAC phone! Some voices from the community: some generically-signed apps will install, some other that are signed with the same type of certificate will not install [...] I can understand why the carrier-customizable security model exists, but Microsoft really needs to play a more active role in taming this monster they´ve unleashed. While many code-signed applications are not working with the MiTAC, by now the following software has been tested and works with MiTAC Smartphone:
