Comparative Review of Pocket PC phones: Hitachi G1000 and XDA
August 20, 2003 [Pocket PC phone] | By anonymous 1.
Good old friend of msmobiles.com - MikeCollins from pdaPhoneHome.com - has written a comparative review of the oldest and (yet) mostly widespread Pocket PC phone - XDA (in USA known as "T-Mobile Pocket PC Phone Edition" or as "Siemens SX56", in Germany also known as "MDA") and the newcomer Hitachi G1000. While the first one is a GSM/GPRS phone, the second is a CDMA phone. Since GSM coverage in USA is weak, many people may go for the Hitachi. What was the final verdict? XDA or Hitachi G1000? The winner is...
I hope that this has helped you appreciate that the XDA and G100 (and the i700) are both great devices, but have pros and cons. In the end, I elected to go with the G1000. This was driven primarily by the keyboard... it captured me and once I used it I couldnīt go back. Other factors included better Sprint coverage and very attactive data pricing, better data speed, the mode selection switch, voice dial integration, and the camera. I donīt really care that much about SDIO. I would like to do a memory upgrade if that becomes available. That would eliminate my biggest constraint at present.
