How to convince MiTAC Mio 8380 smartphone to speak German, French or Italian October 08, 2003 [MS Smartphone] | By anonymous 1. By now users of MiTAC Mio 8380 smartphone were forced to use it in English language only. Not anymore. 
Certain mobilejoe forum member managed to rewrite the ROM of MiTAC 8380 smartphone in this way that it is possible to use it in German, French and Italian languages. The only disadvantage of this solution is that T9 is possible only in English (meaning: no national characters when using T9 input method). This whole ROM is booting in MiTAC like Orange SPV - at the beginning in English and then, when (for example) German SIM is used then automatically change of the language takes place (only zone information - time, location - must be set by hand).
