Current and potential customers, who own or consider to buy Microsoft smartphone have right to know such things as who are those guys from Microsoft, who are speaking out at various shows and participating in newsgroups, what are perspectives to use Wi-Fi SDIO cards in Microsoft smartphone, when 3G Microsoft smartphones will come, and what are marketing plans of Microsoft regarding Microsoft smartphone ("my pal has Sony Ericsson phone and I see ads of it everywhere but I see no adds of my wonderful Microsoft smartphone; I feel bad about it - itīs like nobody is marketing it, itīs like nobody cares" - say some customers)... and some other issues, that bother average users.
(on picture above: Derek Brown holds his own Motorola MPx200 smartphone in his left hand, and Tanager smartphone of Matt Warder in his right hand) This interview gives also an insight into workings of Microsoft for potential hardware vendors, that would like to manufacture Microsoft smartphones. It also sheds a light on usage of Microsoft smartphone in the enterprise - not only for private use. We provide hereby a transcript of our interview with Derek Brown, that took place in Geneva, Switzerland on October 13, 2003, in a meeting room at Microsoftīs stand at ITU World Telecom 2003 conference, roughly one hour after Bill Gates had given his speech at this conference, in which Vodafone-Microsoft deal was announced for the first time.
