Rumor: the real reason of Orange SPV E200 delay exposed
November 17, 2003 [MS Smartphone] | By anonymous 1.
Everybody expected that Orange SPV E200 will start selling today. It didnīt happen.
Why? Orange is withholding release of Orange SPV E200 smartphone and the release of software update version 1.6 for Orange SPV E100 because Microsoft hasnīt sent to Orange the MSN messenger patch yet.
On October 15, 2003 Microsoft changed protocol used by MSN messenger service and while MSN messenger updates and patches for PC and Pocket PC are already available, the big majority of Microsoft smartphone users still is blocked from access to this service and Microsoft claims that it is up to operators to release this patch. Since having MSN messenger embedded in Microsoft smartphone is one of the main selling points of Microsoft smartphone, releasing Orange SPV E200 phone without MSN messenger on board could truly be problematic.
The big waiting for Orange SPV E200 continues...
