Mobile TTDS - cab dispatch system based on Pocket PC phones November 18, 2003 [Pocket PC phone] | By anonymous 1. Digital Studion AB - a company from Sweden (EU), the developer of this system, writes: We are using the Qtek1010 (a Pocket PC phone) with an embedded version of TomTom 2 and a GPS antenna (and of course our software, Mobile TTDS), to dispatch bookings from the dispatch central to the cabs. Our latest (current) installation is for more then 300 cabs.
(on picture above: Qtek 1010 with MobileTTDS on the screen) Moreover Digital Studion AB writes: The system knows which zone the cabs are in and the cabs are given a queue number when they are available and are entering a new zone. One advantage compared to existing systems, is that when the driver is waiting for a booking, he doesn´t need to be in the car. He just unplug his Qtek from the car holder and takes it with him. The system remembers his last position and he can still receive bookings. Another obvious advantage is of course that it uses standard components, standard hardware (PocketPC), standard communication (GPRS) etc. There are some preliminary details at: http://www.digstud.se/ttds/mttds.asp Here is configuration overview of this system: System Info MobileTTDS - Client - PocketPC2002 application (works in WM2003) - Developed in eVC++3.0 using WTL - Communication to booking central uses IP/UDP (optimized for low traffic use) - Number of simultanous clients > 500 - Exe file size approx. 200kB (including sounds) System Info TTDS - Server - Windows 2000 Server - MySQL Database - 350 000 local adresses (long/lat) Credit: Patrik Strömstedt from Digital Studion AB.
