Battlefield: mobile handsets in year 2004
January 05, 2004 [MS Smartphone] | By anonymous 1.
2004 looks like it will be a critical time for most of the major players. [...] Microsoft´s unique selling proposition is
the link to the enterprise through the dominance in PC desktop software, but this has not yet translated into handsets. The separation of PocketPC and Smartphone operating systems artificially divides PDA and handset platforms, despite the cohesive properties of .net. Microsoft need the quality gains to translate into quantity.

Please note: Microsoft suffered major setback lately when Vodafone said, that Microsoft Smartphone is not ready for prime-time yet and delayed its release - despite the fact that previously Microsoft and Vodafone signed agreement regarding web services in cellphone industry... Vodafone is the biggest cellular network operator in the world - headquarted in UK/EU but having stakes in operators all over the world including USA and Japan. And similarly like operators are trying to imitate Vodafone´s "Vodfaone Live!" services, similarly they can imitate Vodafone´s behavior towards Microsoft smartphone... and that would be very bad because year 2004 indeed will be critical for the whole smart phone market.
