OTA unlock service for Orange SPV and Orange SPV e100 : relocated not removed; software-unlocking MPx200
January 20, 2004 [MS Smartphone] | By anonymous 1.
While the new Orange SPV e200 does not require software-unlocking to run any software, including freeware, the old ones - SPV and SPV e100, and also Motorola MPx200, are software-locked. We describe hereby contemporary methods to software unlock these 3 smartphones.
Here are instructions how to access OTA unlock service nowadays:
- go to this web site:
http://www.developers.orange.co.uk
- click on the tab on the top with the name "developers zone"
- click on the left side in the menu on the position "signature devices"
- click on "SPV E100" or "SPV Classic" - depending on which smartphone you want to unlock
- click on the link "Disable/enable the security model"
- click on "click here" just before the text "to disable the securit model..."
(eventually just click here to jump there right away)
- select "Unlock SPV" radio button and click on "Proceed" button
- now you see a page where you have to confirm that you agree on conditions, select radio button "I Agree" and click on "Proceed"
- now you see page "Update SPV", where you must fill in the name, email address, mobile phone number and IMEI number and press "OK
- now you will get an SMS message - this unlocking works in this way that binary SMS is send to smartphone and then smartphone connects to internet and fetches some EXE application and executes it
- important notice: above method works mainly for users using Orange phones with Orange SIM cards; for some other SIM cards it may not work (example: O2 Germany) although for some other SIM cards it works (example: O2 UK)
Users of Motorola MPx200 purchased at Orange cannot software-unlock it with the OTA method mentioned above: they need to do it with a utility that can be downloaded here (free registration required to download it).
