Even Symbian fans admit: Microsoft smartphone rocks
February 07, 2004 [General] | By anonymous 1.

"Actually, it was amazingly good." says Russell Beattie, owner of the Mobitopia blog and employee of WaveMarket (a company owned by Nokia Ventures - a full subsidiary of Nokia). If even hard core Symbian fanatics and Microsoft haters admit that Microsoft smartphone is very good, then what proofs you can expect more? While we were always claiming that Microsoft smartphone is very good, we are not impartial in that matter however... Furthermore Russell writes:

I finally got to fondle a Windows Mobile Smartphone and it was surprisingly good. Actually, it was amazingly good. Compelling, easy to use, quick menus, all the functionality that I would expect (and more). As someone who (regretfully) uses Windows on a daily basis, I was completely at home with the UI and icons, etc. Seeing the Internet Explorer icon was obviously where I would browse the web. The MSN Messenger icon showed me I could chat, the File manager was clean, the back button worked intelligently and clearly, the home screen with the organized PIM info was incredibly useful.

In short, itīs just as good if not better from a user interface standpoint as the Series 60 phones.

He however forgotten to mention, that Microsoft smartphone has something that Symbian phones will never have - .NET (you can put Java to Microsoft smartphone, but you canīt put .NET to Symbian phones - the solution from Appforge is just a proprietary Booster not a .NET runtime). Thus Microsoft smartphone has some advantages to which Symbian phones will never be able to catch up!

Please note that Russell Beattie, out of pure hatred towards Microsoft, refused to participate in Microsoftīs mobius invite-only conference (where Microsoft covers all the costs and gives freebies to webmasters and editors) - so his admiration of Microsoft smartphone must be really sincere!
