Opera browser for Microsoft Smartphone thanks to Motorola? February 11, 2004 [MS Smartphone] | By anonymous 1. Opera Software and Motorola Personal Communications Sector signed Licensing Agreement. Does it mean that Opera will deliver Opera Browser also for Motorola MPx200 phone? Look how Michelle Valdivia from Opera Software ASA answers this question: No it doesn´t mean that. Motorola will decide which devices will include Opera. says Michelle Valdivia ... or in other words: if Motorola would like to put Opera browser to Motorola smartphones powered by Microsoft smartphone software (like MPx200), then it is possible! So just demand Opera browser from Motorola and you will get it! It would be nice to have some alternative to the built-in Internet Explorer - it is not bad but it lacks some features - it doesn´t support frames for example... More info from Opera about the agreement follows. * * * * * Opera Software and Motorola Personal Communications Sector Sign Licensing Agreement - Opera Software and Motorola´s Personal Communications Sector (PCS) today announced that they have signed a licensing agreement to deliver Opera´s Internet browser on multiple Motorola PCS handsets. The agreement also provides Motorola PCS with a licensing power for the Opera Platform, a full integration solution between handheld devices´ local applications and operator´s online content. This announcement complements last week´s Opera and Motorola Global Software Group joint product and distribution agreement announcement. "We find Opera to be a great option for Web browsing solutions for mobile handsets," said Ruchi Mangalik, director of software portfolio, Motorola PCS. "With Opera´s multi-platform capabilities we´re able to support delivery to our customers of a seamless experience across various handsets." "We are very pleased to be included in the evolving strategy for Motorola handsets," says Lars Boilesen, Executive Vice President Sales and Distribution, Opera Software. Additionally, Motorola PCS can now make the Opera Platform available to its customers. The Opera Platform allows operators to integrate tailored content directly with the main screen of a customer´s handsets. All content can be easily made to be dynamically updated over the air at any time, thus strengthening operator brand development and customer loyalty.
