smartner introduces always-on mail for XDA II February 12, 2004 [Pocket PC phone] | By anonymous 1. While Windows Mobile 2003 already features "email-push" technology, it is however based on sending SMS upon email arrrival, what makes it totally useless in most countries due to prohibitive SMS costs. It looks like smartner has a solution that is more similar to the one from RIM (SMS-less): Providing Windows Mobile 2003 users with real-time desktop synchronisation Smartner, the European leader in mobile email and office solutions, today announced the availability of Smartner Duality Always-on Mail for the Xda II, Qtek 2020 and other Microsoft Windows Mobile 2003 based devices. The software is available from leading operators and certified resellers across the UK and Europe. Smartner Duality provides mobile professionals with a real-time link-up to their desktop Microsoft Outlook and Lotus Notes packages via a PDA or other mobile access device. It simultaneously pushes all incoming emails and calendar dates to the user’s Windows Mobile 2003 based device and enables them to maintain complete control over all desktop functions when away from the office. “Xda II is one of the most powerful handheld devices on the market. Packed with great features like Microsoft Pocket PC tools, an integrated digital camera, various keyboard options and tri-band GSM capability, Smartner Duality makes Xda II a truly global tool for mobile professionals,” said Ari Backholm, Executive Vice President, Smartner.
