First REAL photos of HP iPAQ 6000 series revealed
February 13, 2004 [Pocket PC phone] | By anonymous 1.

Italian Pocket PC fan web site reveals photos of new Pocket PC phone from HP - the HP iPAQ 6000 series:

... which as you can see are a bit different than photos previously published:

... but they look quite similar .

We must conclude, that the previous picture of the h6300 from Smartfone.net is exactly what the final model will look like, not a fake as we were saying. The only difference is the previous image has the optional mini keyboard attached. Yes, the previous picture looks like its been PhotoShoped a bit. So what? It looks like the actual handheld. Therefore we apologize for calling the picture from Smartfone.net by a term "fake". It was more like "mock-up", but not a fake.

To view the real (they look more real, contrary to previous ones) photos of HP iPAQ 6000 series at Pocket PC Italia web site, click here.

Some specifications of the HP iPAQ 6000 series according to Pocket PC Italia web site:: Sistema operativo Microsoft Windows Mobile 2003 Phone Edition
  • operating system: Windows Mobile 2003 Phone Edition
  • processor: TI Omap1510
  • memory: 64MB of RAM and 64MB of ROM
  • display: LCD 3.5” Transflective
  • Slot SD/MMC with SDIO compatibility
  • GSM/GPRS Quad-band 850/900/1800/1900 (very important in USA where GSM850 is now spreading)
  • Bluetooth ver. 1.1
  • Wi-Fi 802.11b
  • removable battery Li-Ion of capacity 1800mAh
  • ports Infrared and USB (unknown whether USB host possibility like in Toshiba will be available)
  • removable flip cover
  • size [cm]: 11.7 x 7.4 x 1.8
  • weight: 185 g
Please note: this Pocket PC phone is a top class Microsoft software powered cell phone and will cost probalby around 850 US dollars. It is worth mentioning that it is not a mass market device but rather device for professionals and businessmen. On the other hand Microsoft offers also more mass market oriented devices: cheap Pocket PC phones (as Yakumo Omikron branded Eten for just 300 dollars) or Microsoft smartphoens (for as little as 400 dollars) - both without cellular service subscription - with subscription they can cost almost nothing.

According to information we received from HP: The keyboard for the H6300 series will be included with it in the box, it wont be an option.
