Smartshow Preview for Smartphone 2003 ; final version of RSS reader for Smartphone 2003 coming soon too
February 13, 2004 [MS Smartphone] | By anonymous 1.

The developer who previously released beta version of Smartphone RSS program, now released Smartshow Preview application:

Smartshow Preview for Microsoft Smartphone

... that lets you view images either individually or as a slide show (for example 3 seconds each picture in the show).

To download this application click here:
http://www.codent.com/smartphone/smartshow.cab
(make "Save As" of this file to the hard disk and then move it over ActiveSync to Smartphone)

Below we present some background info from the developer (in italics):

This application searches your phone´s internal storage and any storage card(s) present and presents the user with a list of directories containing images (JPEG or Bitmap). The user can then display the images in the selected directory as a slideshow that runs automatically or manually.

Use the directional pad (up, down, enter) or the included menus to change slides and toggle between timed and manual slide advancement. Images are scaled to preserve their aspect ratio, but streching the image to fill the screen is also supported.

This application is written in VB.NET and will run on any Smartphone 2003 device. It is currently in alpha and is free of charge. Simply download the cab file to your phone over GPRS or copy it via ActiveSync from your PC to your phone and then install with a file explorer utility.

BTW: I saw that you found and reviewed my in progress Smartphone RSS reader. This is an unfinished application so of course it has bugs. I am not even sure how you found the url since it was hidden at the time. I plan to release the first official version soon with support for ALL sites conforming to the following RSS formats (.91, .92, 1.0, and 2.0). There will also be performance improvements and a longer list of default channels to choose from.

See also web site of the developer here.
