Delusions of Nokia continue
February 13, 2004 [General] | By anonymous 1.

First Nokia wanted us all to believe that Symbian is an indpendent organ, a multi-polar organization combining efforts of cellular industry leaders. But it all appeared to be a lie after Psion demanded putting Symbian on stock market and Nokia rejected it and instead took over over 60% of shares of Symbian effectively and formally taking over control of it.

Regarding our story: entitled "Even Symbian fans admit: Microsoft smartphone rocks" we got an explanation from Nokia from Gina Bauman:

In your February 7th edition you have posted an article "Even Symbian fans admit: Microsoft smartphone rocks". In this article you falsely state that WaveMarket is a company owned by Nokia Ventures - a full subsidiary of Nokia. Nokia Venture Partners is a venture capital investor in WaveMarket along with several other investors ( see http://www.wavemarket.com/company_frames.html ). Nokia Venture Partners is an independent venture capital fund and not a subsidiary of Nokia.

I would appreciate you removing the false statement in your article online.

False statements? We havenīt mentioned that Nokia Venture Partners is an exclusive owner of the WaveMarket company.

However most importantly claims that Nokia Venture Partners is "not a subsidiary of Nokia" are totally incorrect. Nokia places this organization in its financial reports and is fully controlling this organization, so that it supports through venture capital, only products and technologies made by Nokia, and not Microsoft technologies or products. Claim that "Nokia Venture Partners" is an independent entity is equally ridiculous and wrong as it is about Symbian (what was proven lately, although many people suspected it in past). It looks like delusions of Nokia continue. Let us not get fooled by Nokia!

The reality is that Nokia, through its subsidiary Nokia Venture Partners, is acting against Microsoft actively, by pumping millions of dollars into start-ups (mostly in USA), and supporting only all these technologies that have nothing to do with Microsoft (.NET, Windows Mobile) and have maximum to do with Nokia (Java, Symbian).
