Europeans do not like Motorola MPx200 February 13, 2004 [MS Smartphone] | By anonymous 1. ... because it has no built-in Bluetooth and no built-in camera - a features that are "a must" in contemporary cell phones, at least in Europe. While in USA cell phones without these 2 features still can be easily sold in big amounts, in Europe smartphones without built-in camera and without built-in Bluetooth are simply being despised: There’s no point making a smartphone that hasn’t got Bluetooth or camera ... writes British "Mobile Today" magazine and gives "thumbs down" evaluation to the Motorola MPx200:
However, being a smartphone, it is judged on more important criteria, most notably its features. So fundamental is the omission of Bluetooth on the smartphone that it has apparently led to many dealers and customers casting it aside without further examination. It drew similes such as, ‘…like a car without wheels,’ from one bemused dealer. An integrated camera may not appear to be an essential tool for business users but when rivals are all equipped with cameras and even include video recording, it’s a blow not to have one. Please note: currently there is only one model of Microsoft smartphone equipped both with built-in Bluetooth and built-in camera - it is "HTC Voyager" (branded as Orange SPV E200, O2 Xphone, Qtek 8080, i-mate Smartphone2, etc). Motorola plans to introduce Motorola MPx220 - a successor to MPx200 - by July 2004 and this MPx220 will have these both missing features.
