Samsung SCH-i600 Smartphone Portal with several updates in one place launched ; still nothing known about ROM upgrade to Smartphone 2003 February 16, 2004 [MS Smartphone] | By anonymous 1. The new "Samsung SCH-i600 Smartphone Portal" includes now MSN Messenger Update, Caller ID Update and HKCR Registration Key Update. Still there is no mentioning of a ROM upgrade to Smartphone 2003, so it is far from certain whether Samsung i600 ever will be upgradeable to the contemporary version of operating system... The fact that Samsung is releasing updates to the old OS, rather than releasing new OS with all problems fixed, indicates that Samsung rather has no intention to ever release a ROM upgrade to Smartphnoe 2003 for this phone. Samsung writes: Welcome to Samsung´s SCH-i600 Smartphone portal. Here you can find the latest in updates and links to Samsung’s other Mobile Intelligent Terminals and the newly constructed Developer portal, the premier resource for your mobile software development needs for Samsung mobile handsets. MSN Messenger Update This update will install the latest MSN Messenger Client on your Samsung SCH-i600 Smartphone. This Update can only be used for handsets running software version WI23. Caller ID Update This update will allow you to view the phone number of an incoming call on the outside Caller ID display. And when the flip is open this update will allow you to immediately view the Contact Name and Number that is stored in your address book. This Update can only be used for handsets running software version WI23. Warning: Once you download and run the Caller ID Update on your handset, you cannot go back to the previous implementation. HKCR Registration Key Update This update unlocks the HKCR and allows an application to access this parameter during installation. Warning: If you wish to install both the Caller ID and HKCR Updates you MUST install the Caller ID Update FIRST. TIP The software version on your Samsung SCH-i600 Smartphone can be checked by going to the (Home Screen > Programs > 9 More > Settings > 9 More > 6 Phone Settings > 3 Version) PDA software should read WI23.
