3GSM 2004 news: Motorola presents MPx100 and MPx on the stand February 24, 2004 [General] | By anonymous 1. Motorola is presenting now, at the 3GSM World Congress 2004, the 2 latest new Microsoft powered cell phones: MPx100 (MS Smartphone) and MPx (Pocket PC phone). These 2 phones presented at Motorola´s stand are fully functional (running software and working as a phone) and are "engineering samples" (one of iterations in the engineering process). MPx100 and MPx are also available at Microsoft´s stand behind the glass, but those presented at Microsoft´s stand are not real phones but just fakes for the presentation purposes. Here are the photos: Here is the Motorola MPx100 compared to Motorola MPx200 - both on the stand of Motorola (the MPx100 was just used so it has backlight switched "on"):
Generally MPx100 is a bit smaller and weighs less than Orange SPV e200 (HTC Voyager). It has Bluetooth and joystick and a very nice design. Here are the fakes (plastic models without electronics) of Motorola MPx100 and MPx from the stand of Microsoft:
While MPx (the Pocket PC phone) looks nice and has fancy keyboard, it will be Motorola MPx100 that will be big breakthrough for Microsoft smartphone platform and thus for all Microsoft powered cell phones. Contrary to phones with clam shell design (like Motorola MPx200) the MPx100 has joystick, so it is also suitable for gaming.
