Action Engine to pull an Ace Up its Sleeve soon February 28, 2004 [General] | By anonymous 1. At 3GSM World Congress 2004, at the big stand of Microsoft, as one of Microsoft´s partners we have met a guy from Action Engine company:
... and we were talking with him about their product offering however he has not betrayed the latest product on which Action Engine is working now. Fortunately Steve Lombardi from Microsoft has betrayed to us what it is. It is very cool and based on Microsoft´s new platform for Location Based Services. Read on... Officially, apart from update and restore programs for Microsoft smartphone and Pocket PC, Action Engine offers also (to operators) set of web services:
The new product, that yet has not been announced by Action Engine is a system for location based services, that is able to notify you once your friends come into the predefined range. Then you can open a map of this area and see your friends nearby! This new solution by Action Engine (that will be offered to operators both for MS Smartphone and Pocket PC phone platforms) is not announced yet and it is based on new Microsoft´s solution for Location Based Services, that constitutes server based abstraction layer between web services clients (SOAP servers) and between location-providing APIs of operators (as a plug-in specific to each operator). Please note: both Action Engine and Microsoft are located in Redmond in state Washington in USA. This geographical proximity helps Action Engine to gain better access to Microsoft's technologies... For more information check our website later for the interview with Steve Lombardi from Microsoft - apart from MapPoint web services, this interview covers also new revolutionary Microsoft´s platform solution for Location Based Services...
