More info follows. * * * * * MUSIKUBE ANNOUNCES MOBILE MUSIC RECOGNITION AND DISCOVERY SOLUTIONS FOR WINDOWS MOBILE SOFTWARE FOR SMARTPHONES MusiKube, a developer of music recognition and discovery solutions, announced that its iCapture mobile music recognition and discovery solutions support Microsoft Windows Mobile software for Smartphones. The iCapture system is one of the first mobile music discovery solutions of its kind to support Windows Mobile software for Smartphones. MusiKube will be demonstrating the iCapture audio and barcode recognition services, which allow consumers to use their mobile phone to interactively capture their musical interests, whether hearing the music or reading about it. The iCapture Barcode Recognition Service turns camera phones into music capture and discovery devices by allowing consumers to scan barcodes on albums, advertisements, concert posters and other print media, such as in-store displays. Consumers simply point the camera at the barcode and launch the application, which is optimized through Windows Mobile. The iCapture Audio Recognition Service turns everyday mobile phones into music capture and discovery devices by allowing consumers to identify music whenever it is heard. Consumers simply dial a toll-free phone number and hold their phone near the music for 10 seconds. Whether audio captured or barcode scanned, once a song has been identified through the iCapture service, consumers can open links and listen to song samples, receive recommendations, share the information with their friends, and buy related products, such as ringtones, ‘truetones’ and digital downloads – directly on their mobile device. A full list of all identified songs and albums can also be viewed, sampled and purchased from the MusiKube Website along with related products such as monophonic, polyphonic and ‘true tones’ ringtones through MusiKube’s fulfillment partners. “MusiKube’s solutions turn mobile phones and PDAs into music discovery devices, enabling consumers to capture their musical interests, keep track of them and turn their interests into purchases,” said Ashley Heather, CEO of MusiKube. “Windows Mobile software for Smartphones is the ideal platform for our technology, giving consumers a highly interactive music discovery experience.” “ Windows Mobile software provides a revolutionary mobile experience that helps people stay better connected to their information and provides opportunities for the delivery of new mobile services, applications and innovative handsets,” said Irwin Rodrigues, lead product manager for the Windows Mobile Division at Microsoft Corp. “Solutions like MusiKube’s provide new experiences for Windows Mobile users while giving mobile phone operators new opportunities to increase profitability through mobile music identification.” MusiKube has developed a suite of services for mobile operators and retailers that give consumers the tools to capture their music interests wherever and whenever they come across it, while giving retailers, record labels and wireless service providers new opportunities to increase profitability by increasing consumer impulse purchases. MusiKube’s services include the iCapture audio and barcode recognition services and the in-store Personal Music Guide (PMG).
