CeBIT 2004 news: Mobile Fair Planner for PDA and smartphones available for download now March 13, 2004 [General] | By anonymous 1. The world's biggest Information and Communications Technology trade show is not in USA, but, strangely, in EU: the CeBIT 2004 trade show in Hannover starts next week (on March 18 2004) and the "Mobile Fair Planner" for this trade show is now available for download. However it looks like Microsoft, despite spending huge money on the exhibiting itself there, failed to convince organizers to provide this planner also for Microsoft smartphone platform! There is a version for Symbian smartphones, but not for Microsoft Smartphone! Well, there is a version of this planner for Pocket PC, as you can observe on this screenshot:
... and it allows you even to find given exhibitor, then pull up the context menu on the name and select "show on map" to locate the company you are searching for. Unfortunately there is still no hookup to GPS so that you cannot see at which stand you are now - on the basis of GPS received location! Oh, come on! We have 21st century now and such feature would be essential, considering how huge area of CeBIT is! GPS receivers are cheap and popular for Pocket PC, so it looks like again opportunity to provide good planner was missed! All in all any planner is better than no planner at all, but the lack of version for Microsoft smartphone hurts... Below we provide manual for the Mobile Planner so that you can get acquainted with the features.
